Welcome to Our Blog

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in this program will attest, there are no words or pictures that can begin to adequately capture the beauty of the scenery or hospitality of the people in Cape Town. Therefore, this blog is merely intended to provide an overview of the program and a glimpse at some amazing adventures and life-changing experiences had by the students and staff of this program who have traveled together as co-educators and companions on the journey. As Resident Director and Faculty Advisor since 2008 it has been a privilege and honor to accompany an incredible variety of wonderful UConn students to a place we have all come to know and love.

In peace, with hope, Marita McComiskey, PhD

Ainsley, Audrey, & JR travel on . . .

Following their time in Cape Town, Audrey, JR and Ainsley went to Europe on their way home.  Ainsley sent the following email that tells a bit about how their Cape Town experiences continued to influence their choices:

Audrey, JR and I made it through London and now to Geneva safely but wanted to let you know that we're still using our Cape Town knowledge here. While walking around London on Sunday we found a rally to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the civil war in Sudan and the Darfur crisis. Also, nothing made us quite miss Cape Town as much as seeing an advertisement for a Shakespeare play from a South African troop done completely in isiXhosa, Afrikaans and about 4 other South African languages.
