WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in this program will attest, there are no words or pictures that can begin to adequately capture the beauty of the scenery or hospitality of the people in Cape Town. Therefore, this blog is merely intended to provide an overview of the program and a glimpse at some amazing adventures and life-changing experiences had by the students and staff of this program who have traveled together as co-educators and companions on the journey. As Resident Director and Faculty Advisor since 2008 it has been a privilege and honor to accompany an incredible variety of wonderful UConn students to a place we have all come to know and love.

In peace, with hope, Marita McComiskey, PhD

Janiel's beyond excited

I remember my initial feeling when my counselor told me about the study abroad program to Cape Town, South Africa. I don't think I was more excited about anything, only because I've always said that if I were to get the opportunity to study abroad I would without a doubt travel to South Africa. I didn't know what to feel when I received the email saying that I have been accepted. As if words weren't enough to describe my emotions. I finally gathered myself and told everyone I knew that I, Janiel Green was about to have the best, unimaginable, life changing experience. I still have to remind myself that I was chosen, it's a bit unreal. I thank you and Vernon for the acceptance and this great opportunity. Excitement cannot begin to explain how I feel about going to Cape Town.
