Welcome to Our Blog

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in this program will attest, there are no words or pictures that can begin to adequately capture the beauty of the scenery or hospitality of the people in Cape Town. Therefore, this blog is merely intended to provide an overview of the program and a glimpse at some amazing adventures and life-changing experiences had by the students and staff of this program who have traveled together as co-educators and companions on the journey. As Resident Director and Faculty Advisor since 2008 it has been a privilege and honor to accompany an incredible variety of wonderful UConn students to a place we have all come to know and love.

In peace, with hope, Marita McComiskey, PhD

Jerard consumed with thoughts of South Africa

Hi, my name is Jerard and I am a junior majoring in Political Science at the University of Connecticut. I was absolutely ecstatic when I heard I was accepted into the Cape Town program. Although I know it will be very tough to leave all of the wonderful friends I’ve made here at Uconn, I’m so very excited to make even more new friends and to work alongside my fellow program members. Even though January is still months away, I am consumed with thoughts of all the wonderful opportunities that await me in South Africa.  I know this is going to be a monumental experience in my life and I can’t stop counting down the days until I depart for South Africa
